Board of Directors Candidates

DISTRICT 5

V ALBERT ARMAND

V ALBERT ARMAND

Albert has been a full-time farmer and REMC member for the past 40 years. A 3rd generation Decatur County Farmer, Albert farms over 600 acres with his son and wife, Diane. Along with hogs, cows and chickens they raise traditional row crops and 23 acres of produce including their u-pick pumpkin patch.

A Purdue graduate, Albert has held many positions in the community. He served as president of the following: DCREMC nominating committee, APC, BZA, 4-H Council and SWCD. He also served on the Decatur County Fair Board, Decatur County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and helped establish the Greensburg Farmer’s Market. He currently serves as a director of the Westport VFD.

REASONS FOR DESIRING POSITION

  • To improve and diversify member services, whether it be broadband or solar generation, etc.
  • To improve board-member relations.
  • To ensure the co-op continues to provide outstanding electric service at an affordable price.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience – His Ag Economics education and experience with his farm operation would be very valuable.
  • Customer Service – Building an agritourism business has provided various experiences.
  • Leadership – His leadership on several boards over the years would be of benefit to the board.

CORY ROSS

CORY ROSS

Cory resides on 1000 S in Westport with his wife Kristen and their sons Easton and Owen. He attended college studying Computer Science and Graphic Design before joining his dad at Showtime Window Tinting, which he now owns and runs. Cory currently serves on the School Board for Decatur County Community Schools.

REASONS CORY WANTS TO SERVE:

  • I want to help lead Decatur County REMC into the future by implementing new products that save members money and help reliability.
  • I want to expand my involvement in the community and be a resource for them.

HIS QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE:

  • I am involved in the community and care about my community.
  • I want to help improve the quality of the products offered by Decatur County REMC.

BRIAN SCHEIDLER

BRIAN SCHEIDLER, INCUMBENT

Brian resides on 60 E in Greensburg with his wife Linzi and their children Nolan, Liam, and Ava. Brian holds a degree in Ag Systems Management from Purdue University and boasts 16 years of experience at Kova Fertilizer in Westport. Additionally, he serves as a Director at Decatur County REMC and is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

THREE REASONS BRIAN WANTS TO SERVE DECATUR COUNTY REMC:

  • Continue to support fiber internet to the home for all members.
  • Continue to support measures to ensure reliable service.
  • Help the REMC be successful for current and future members.

HIS QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE DECATUR COUNTY REMC ARE:

  • I am currently serving my second term as Director.
  • I have my Credentialed Cooperative Director Certification.
  • I am currently the Secretary of the Board.

Jeff Evans

JEFF EVANS

Jeff resides on 350 W in Jennings County. He has children Breanna and Kyle along with two grandchildren, Emi and Clay. After graduating high school, Jeff went to work on the family farm. He went on to hold other various jobs including Decatur Mold, Genesis Tillage Innovation, and INDOT. Currently, he is the DPW Director at Muscatatuck Training Center. Furthermore, Jeff is a member of Sovereign Christ Bible Fellowship, a Geneva Township Trustee Advisory Board member, and President of the Bartholomew Saddle Club.

THREE REASONS JEFF WANTS TO SERVE DECATUR COUNTY REMC:

  • I like being involved in the community.
  • I would like to know more about how the REMC works.
  • I’m concerned with the push to go total electric.

HIS QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE DECATUR COUNTY REMC ARE:

  • I’ve been a member for many years.
  • I’ve worked for the people of the State of Indiana for 21 years.
  • I’m concerned about our use of electricity.

DALE WERNKE

DALE WERNKE, INCUMBENT

Dale resides with his wife Jo Ann on 150 E in North Vernon. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Marian College. Currently serving as the Lead EEO Officer with Force Construction Company, Dale oversees job cost accounting for construction projects and implementation, education, monitoring, and enforcement of nondiscriminatory culture throughout the Company. In addition, Dale is a Director of Decatur County REMC and a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where he serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee.

THREE REASONS DALE WANTS TO SERVE:

  • To continue the trend of providing reliable electric service at a reasonable cost, resulting in good value for all our members.
  • To complete the exploration of Broadband, hopefully resulting in implementation for all DCREMC members.
  • To continue to position DCREMC as a responsible partner for the entire community.

THREE REASONS THAT MAKE DALE QUALIFIED:

  • 40+ years of accounting experience in various industries.
  • CCD (Credentialed Cooperative Director) Certificate within my first 3-year term.
  • Commitment – I am completing my 2nd term as a Director, being first elected in 2018. I have not missed a single Director’s meeting nor requested that a regularly scheduled meeting be changed to accommodate my schedule.

PATTY LANGE FISCHER

PATTY LANGE FISCHER

Patty resides in Saltcreek Township Decatur County with her husband Gary and entertains grandchildren any chance she gets. She graduated from Purdue University and is co-owner and co-manager of Langeland Farms, Inc. Patty is an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Smyrna, where she is president of their Church Council, coordinates the Outreach Committee, and teaches Sunday School. She is President of Hoosier Harvest Market Inc. (an online farmers market). Patty has been an active member of Farm Bureau, Inc., most recently as President of Decatur County Farm Bureau, from 2016 to 2021 and coordinated their Ag Day Fair educational event for 30 years.

Patty is a lifelong resident of Decatur County and a REMC member for 48 years. Sitting her involvement in her local church and a wide array of community activities, she says, “Our livelihood now and in the future depends on reliable, and affordable electric service for our rural citizens and businesses. My current and past involvement in this community shows a history of commitment and accountability. I ask for your vote for Nominating Committee. Thank you.”

BILL HUFFMEYER

BILL HUFFMEYER

Bill resides on 500 W in Osgood with his wife Julie and their three sons Augie, Clay, and Reid. Bill holds a degree in Ag Systems Management from Purdue University with a minor in Ag Economics and an associate degree in Agronomy. Along with being active in the family row crop farming operation, Bill is also a crop protection distributor sales representative with Rosen’s Inc. He is a member of Saint Louis Parish in Batesville where he participates in many parish and school activities. Additionally, he serves as a current board member of the Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation District.

By serving on the nominating committee, Bill aims to provide quality board candidates who will make member interests and concerns a priority. Engage those who are willing and able to represent the REMC and its members for the betterment of all members and ensure quality and peace of mind into the future. His strong community connections, both personally and professionally, allow him to connect with the people and rural communities.


2024 ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION DETAILS

Voting opens May 10, 2024 at 8 a.m. EST and will close June 12, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Members can vote using the following methods:

Return ballot provided in election packet. Please allow adequate time for mail service.

• USING SMARTHUB

Vote through your online SmartHub account.

• USING SECURE ONLINE LINK

Use unique login credentials provided in election packet.

Each membership receives one vote and can only utilize one method of voting.


There will be no on-site voting at the meeting.
