Skillet Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 stick salted butter, plus 1 T. melted
- 2 refrigerated rolled pie crusts
- 1 (21-oz.) can apple pie filling
- 2 T. cinnamon sugar
- ¼ t. nutmeg
- Vanilla ice cream to serve
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 F. Spray a 9-inch cast iron skillet with cooking spray. Melt brown sugar and ½ cup of butter in skillet over medium heat. Remove the pan from the heat and cover with a pie crust. Pour the apple pie filling on top of the crust. Mix cinnamon sugar and nutmeg. Sprinkle 1 T. of cinnamon sugar and nutmeg mix on top of apple pie filling. Cover with second crust. Brush with the 1 T. melted butter and sprinkle top crust with the remaining sugar mix. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
