Thanks to more than 80 percent of Noble REMC members who graciously allow their electric bills to be rounded to the nearest dollar to support our Operation Round Up program. The rounded-up money (pennies per month) is placed in a charitable trust with oversight by its own volunteer board of directors. The money is awarded to non-profit community-based organizations in Noble, DeKalb and adjoining counties and benefits people who live there.

To date, Noble REMC members have given back nearly $707,000 to the community through the program.

The organizations receiving grants from the January distribution of the Noble REMC Operation Round Up Trust are:

Central Noble Speech & Debate Team, $1,500 — team expenses

Canstruction, $2,000 — canned goods for construction

Helping Hands of Orange Township, $1,500 — food

Noble County Council on Aging, $1,000 — appliances

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary, $1,198 — LED security lights

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, Inc., $1,000 — School Buddies program

St. John Lutheran School, $1,500 — science kit curriculum

Northeast Indiana Public Radio, Inc., $500 — Building A Sound Future Capital Campaign

Junior Achievement of Noble County, $1,500 — Our City program

Operation Round Up is an ongoing fundraising program benefiting area non-profit community organizations, projects and events. Applications for the next grant cycle are being accepted by 4:30 p.m. on April 2. Interested organizations can pick up an application at the Noble REMC office or download one at nobleremc.com.
