Local students travel and learn

Orange County REMC sponsored four students and sent one employee as a chaperone to Touchstone Energy Camp this summer. Pictured above are, front row, Chloe Houston, Alexis Flynn and Addison Roop. Back row, Robert White, REMC employee and chaperone, and Kye Strother.

Several students from the Orange County REMC service territory recently had a chance to experience learning like never before even when school was out for the summer.

Touchstone Energy Camp

Four local students attended the three-day Touchstone Energy Camp and experienced horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, archery and campfires, along with learning about electrical safety.
Orange County REMC sponsored the following middle school students for the event:

  • Chloe Houston, Orleans
  • Alexis Flynn, Orleans
  • Kye Strother, West Washington
  • Addison Roop, West Washington

Youth Tour to D.C.

Riley Guetig from West Washington Junior-Senior High School represented Orange County REMC on a week-long trip to the nation’s capital. Guetig joined students from all over Indiana, who first met in Indianapolis and then traveled to Gettysburg and Washington. D.C.

The trip featured visits to the Flight 93 Memorial, the Gettysburg Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian museums and the National Mall memorials. They also met with congressional leaders.
