“All good things must come to an end.” goes the age-old saying.
After serving on LaGrange County REMC’s board of directors for nearly 22 years, Larry Fetters retired after moving out of the cooperative’s service territory. Fetters served District 1, which covers all of Van Buren and Lima townships and portions of Newbury and Clay townships.
While serving on the board, Fetters earned his Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate and his Board Leadership Certificate through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. He is retired from the finance business, but helps his daughter operate a gift shop in Shipshewana. Fetters and his wife, Marge, enjoy spending time with their four granddaughters in their spare time.
Reminiscing about his time on the board, Fetters said he will certainly miss the co-op. “We’re really proud of being involved with LaGrange County REMC. It provides a lot of support for the community.”
Fetters also served as president of the statewide service organization for Indiana’s electric cooperatives (Indiana Electric Cooperatives) and helped the association overcome some leadership hurdles at the time. Fetters was also instrumental in bringing the Operation Round Up program to LaGrange County REMC. Since its inception, over $580,000 has been given back to non-profit organizations in LaGrange County through the program.
With a little more free time on his hands now, Fetters plans to do a lot more relaxing. We wish him all the best and thank him for his time and dedication to serving the members of LaGrange County REMC.
