Marshall County REMC understands the importance of expanding broadband development to our members and rural community. To those many homeowners, businesses, farmers, and students who’ve been asking us to provide reliable, high-speed internet to their residences, we have good news to report. Through Marshall County Fiber, our partnership with Rochester Telephone Company, we’re now able to serve over 1,100 addresses. By the end of the year, we’ll be able to add another 687 addresses.
We have accomplished a lot since we began the partnership in 2018 but we have much more ground to cover. We rely on funding from various sources including the Indiana Connectivity Program, a new resource which helps Hoosiers access reliable and quality broadband.
The Indiana Connectivity Program will allow internet service providers, like Marshall County Fiber, to expand service territories at a faster pace.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, in conjunction with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, is working diligently to connect Indiana residents and businesses that lack dependable, high-speed internet with service providers. As well, they are doing all they can to help defray expenses through grants and other funding.
We encourage members struggling to get internet connectivity to enter their information into the Next Level Connections portal at in.gov/ocra/broadband. Members can also call the Indiana Broadband Connect Center at 833-639-8522. For more information, visit in.gov/ocra/broadband/icp.
