As the new CEO, I couldn’t be more humbled to have this opportunity to serve you, the members of Clark County REMC.
As I reflect on my 18 years in the electric industry, I incessantly keep the cooperative model near and dear to my heart. It’s the idea that those who use an enterprise – the members – should also own and govern it. Democratic member control is the defining characteristic separating a cooperative like Clark County REMC from other businesses.
You, the member-owners of this organization, get to decide who is in charge. And in a world with multi-national corporations getting bigger every day, and political divisions widening with each election, those in rural America can feel like they’ve lost their voice. But at Clark County REMC, you still have a voice.
I am delighted to serve you as CEO, and there will be more introductions in the months to come. But this month, let’s turn our attention to some very exciting news.
The Annual Meeting is back! After a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 83rd Annual Meeting will take place on April 2, though it will look different than annual meetings from years past. Your board of directors weighed all the options, and to keep our members and employees as safe as possible, we are planning a drive-through meeting.
You can cast your vote at Silver Creek High School on April 2 between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Rather than voting inside the building, you will stay in your car and our staff will get you registered, hand you a ballot, and give you a registration gift. I’ll be in the drive-through line, and I can’t wait to meet you. See you there!
