Marshall County REMC celebrates 10 years of Operation Round Up this July. Through ORU, donations from you and other cooperative members are collected and placed in a separate fund administered by the Marshall County Community Foundation. Nonprofit organizations in our community can apply for grants. A volunteer board reviews the applications and chooses which programs ORU can help during that funding cycle.

You, the donors, have supported all ages within the community through food donations, gift cards for the elderly during Christmas and educational opportunities at many local schools and after-school programs. You have also provided funding for fire department equipment, state police programs for youth, flood victims, women who have had miscarriages, those grieving loss, men and women in service, babies at risk for SIDS and so much more. 

Together, you have given back over $200,000 to more than 80 organizations throughout our service territory. We hope to continue the support for our community for many years to come. The more members that donate to ORU, the more funds will be available for grants and the opportunity to help people. How Operation Round Up started

Palmetto Electric Cooperative in South Carolina created the Operation Round Up program in 1989. Since then, more than 250 electric cooperatives have adopted it nationwide. Over the years, Operation Round Up has raised more than $50 million for cooperative communities.
