Operation Round Up

Operation Round Up provided over $13,000 in support to local non-profit organizations.  With your help, these organizations are able to offer programs to support the needs in the community. KV OP ROUND UP PHOTO

  • LaCrosse Volunteer Fire Department will be purchasing a new automated external defibrillator with a recent $3,000 grant.  With LaCrosse VFD being a first responder in the community and providing mutual aid to other departments, an AED will help to better equip them in providing lifesaving care in a timely manner.  The purchase of this AED will bring the total number of units to two within the department.
  • Kouts Police Department received a grant in the amount of $2537.83 for the implementation of a “Child Find ID Program.” Through this program, identification cards will be made available to children, elderly and the disabled in the community for location and emergency purposes. The cards would have basic information, along with a photo, address, medical needs and phone number. In the event of an Amber or Silver Alert, the cards would be accessed to provide important information to the police. This is a unique and new program to the department, expanding the ability to help families quickly reunite with loved ones.
  • Morgan Township Volunteer Fire Department will now be able to purchase a grain rescue tube with its recent $3,000 grant. Morgan Township and surrounding communities are approximately 80-85 percent agriculturally based. This includes many on-farm grain set ups and local grain facilities. With the newly purchased equipment, the local fire department would be able to do a proper and safe rescue if a grain entrapment should occur.
  • The Starke County Youth Club (SCYC), Inc. was awarded a $3500 grant for the purchase of supplies for its enrichment activities.  This after school program provides children with programs such as cooking, nutrition camp, critical thinking in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities and teaches them ways to be productive citizens through community engagement programs.  SCYC has helped nearly 600 children last year have an affordable, safe and educational after school program.
  • Junior Achievement serving Pulaski County received $1,000 to fund the Junior Achievement program in local schools.  This grant will bring the program to three classrooms in the Winamac area.  Junior Achievement serving Pulaski County provides financial literacy, work force readiness and entrepreneurship education to 49 classrooms serving approximately 1,100 students.
