KV REMC crews are dedicated to ensuring your electric supply’s safety and reliability for residential and commercial needs. Here is what is happening this month:
LINE CONSTRUCTION
Our contracted crews are embarking on phase two of a project spanning multiple months in Kouts and Walkerton. This initiative aims to support the resilience of the electric grid, minimizing the outage durations for our valued members in the area. Work will be performed in the following areas:
- Walkerton: Work will commence along SR 104, at CR 700 S, and extend southward to County Line Road, covering half a mile.
- Kouts: The work will encompass CR 1050 S, starting from SR 49 and extending eastward to CR 275 E. It will then proceed northward to CR 1000 S and include CR 500 E.
KNOX SUBSTATION
The anticipated Yellow River Substation, situated in Knox, will commence operations by the end of July. Though there has been a slight delay due to the delivery and installation of the radiator, crews have been working to ensure a seamless transition.
FIBER UPDATE
Progress continues to be made on the fiber loop project. To date, the contractors have completed Phase 3, which includes the installation of 55.03 miles of fiber. This phase connected five substations and established a link to Marshall County REMC.
Phase 4 will begin shortly. It will connect the remaining substations on the west side of the KV REMC service territory, completing the ring back to the KV REMC. This phase will primarily be built over the summer, with completion expected in early fall 2024.
We continue investigating ways local internet providers can utilize our fiber network to extend broadband services to rural communities in and around our service territory.
