Decatur County REMC was founded on the principle of serving our members, and this remains at the heart of everything we do. From daily tasks and local events to navigating government regulations and preparing for future demands, our focus is always on our members.

In today’s rapidly evolving energy landscape, it is crucial that we collaborate and continuously seek innovative solutions to meet the needs of our members. This means maintaining reliable and affordable energy and embracing new technologies and sustainable practices.

In the past year, Hoosier Energy has added two new generation resources via the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Michigan and St. Joseph Energy Center, a natural gas combined cycle facility in New Carlisle, Indiana.

The Palisades Nuclear Power Plant is at center stage, with plans to restart in late 2025 or early 2026. It will provide a reliable energy source for the next 30 years and offer carbon-free energy as many states and businesses look to reduce their footprint in the next decade. Once it reopens, Palisades will be the first nuclear plant in history to be recommissioned.

St. Joseph Energy Center has a strong operational and economic performance history and provides another baseload resource that will strengthen and diversify Hoosier Energy’s resource portfolio. This facility will be co-owned with Wabash Valley Power Alliance.

These additions, along with securing more than $675 million in new ERA funding from the USDA, address what matters most to our members — reliability, affordability, and sustainability.

Decatur County REMC remains steadfast in our commitment to our members. If you are interested in learning more or have any feedback, please give me a call.
