A mountain of an anthill

A member recently called in, believing a downspout was washing out the sand from around the pad mount transformer. When the linemen arrived to inspect, they found something very different.

After struggling to open the transformer, they discovered a giant anthill. Two linemen spent an afternoon removing over 18 5-gallon buckets of anthill from the transformer and pad. Fortunately, the ants did not cause an outage or, worse, a fire.

If you notice the ground washing away from your pad mount, please do not try to fill it back in. Hidden #33258001. Call the office, and our service team will be able to perform an inspection.
