As we approach the end of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments and express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and trust in LaGrange County REMC. This year has been transformative for our community, especially regarding our broadband initiatives and the various services we provide.

Broadband expansion: We made significant strides in expanding high-speed internet access across LaGrange County. Our team worked diligently to extend service to underserved areas, ensuring more families and businesses can connect with the resources they need. We are approaching our 4,000th connection in the next few weeks.

Electric service enhancements: Our commitment to providing reliable electricity remains strong. We continue to invest in upgrading our infrastructure to enhance service reliability and efficiency, ensuring that your energy needs are met consistently.

Community involvement: We achieved an incredible milestone this year thanks to our Operation Round Up program participants. The spare change that you donate each month may not seem like much, but it all adds up. Since it’s inception in 2002, over $700,000 has been given to local, non-profit organizations. Thank you!

Investing in our youth: LaGrange County REMC has logged hundreds of volunteer hours supporting schools, youth clubs, and programs along with providing nearly $60,000 in scholarships for local students. Through our Youth Tour program, we send a high school junior to Washington, D.C., for a week-long immersion to experience democracy in action. We also send a couple sixth graders to Camp Kilowatt every summer.

Energy efficiency: We’re also finding multiple opportunities for you, our members, to save money on your energy bills, whether it’s by offering rebates for energy-efficiency upgrades (think HVAC, water heaters, Wi-Fithermostats) or providing ways to better seal your doors and windows to keep the cold winter air out. We’ve got an energy advisor ready to perform an audit on your home (free of charge) to help you find the most efficient ways to reduce energy.

Rate change: As I mentioned in last month’s column, as we continue to provide you with quality service in this environment of rising costs, we will be implementing a 3% rate increase after the first of the year. Look for detailed information on page 6.

As we look forward to the holiday season, I want to extend warm wishes to you and your families. This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our blessings, connect with loved ones, and give back to our community. At LaGrange County REMC, we are grateful for the privilege of serving you and remain dedicated to improving your quality of life through reliable energy and broadband services.

May your holiday season be filled with joy, peace, and happiness. Thank you for being an essential part of our community. We are excited about what the future holds and look forward to serving you in the year ahead.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
