All of us at Jay County REMC want to take this opportunity to offer our members a recap of this year’s Annual Meeting and express our gratitude to everyone who made the event possible! If you couldn’t join us on June 22, here are some highlights from the evening.

Prior to the business meeting, members enjoyed our annual business expo, where they could visit business owners who live or operate their businesses on our lines. Participants included Workwear Xpress, Creative Awards & Gifts, Jay County Solid Waste Management District, Farmland General Store, A Better Life – Brianna’s Hope, J&N Bargain Shop, Schmit Chiropractic, and Tam’s Tips to Toes. We thank these businesses for helping us offer something unique to our membership at each Annual Meeting.

Some of you may have noticed our entertainment this year was slightly different than in years past. This year, we opted to go with laughter instead of music. Comedian Dave Dugan performed an hour of comedy crafted explicitly for our audience. Attendees had a great time listening to Dugan tell jokes and fill the auditorium with laughter. Thank you, Dave, for entertaining us.

Special guests at the meeting included Hannah Laux, who sang our national anthem, and Pastor Randy Davis, who gave our invocation. Our attorney, Aleasha Boling, joined us to reveal our election results, and we celebrated the retirement of 31-year board member Steve Ritchie. Thank you to each of you for your extraordinary contribution to our evening, and to Ritchie for his years of service to our board.

Speaking of board members, we appreciated having all of our current board members at the meeting. We also want to welcome our newest director, Angie Lutes. Incumbents Klint Moser and Ken Denton each retained their seats. Congratulations to them.

Of course, our Annual Meetings would be nothing without our members and guests. Thank you to all who could attend the event and everyone who participated in our early voting for the board of directors.

Our employees and directors enjoyed speaking with our membership, hearing new ideas, and mingling. We are genuinely member-owned and operated, which makes a good turnout an even sweeter victory.

Finally, we would like to thank all the Jay County REMC employees who worked together to make the evening run smoothly. You may have noticed these friendly faces at the registration table, helping you vote, offering information at several booths in the expo, and jumping in to help where needed. We cannot stress enough the strength of this group as a team and how thankful we are that they are Jay County REMC employees.

Once again, thank you to everyone! We look forward to what the future holds for Jay County REMC.
