Educational youth programs are just one way that KV REMC can connect with and invest in future leaders and contributors to our communities.
Operation Round Up scholarships
Two $2,000 and four $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually to high school graduating students whose parents or guardians are KV REMC member-consumers. Students must graduate in 2025 and plan to attend a college, university, or technical school in the fall of 2025. Parents or guardians must be Operation Round Up participants by Jan. 28 for the student to be eligible to apply.

Camp Kilowatt
June 4-7
Students entering seventh grade in the fall of 2025 can spend four exciting days this summer at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana, where they will learn about energy in addition to enjoying fun camp activities like horseback riding, ziplining, swimming, canoeing, and more. To be eligible, students must complete an application. Priority will be given to students of parents who receive their electricity from Kankakee Valley REMC.

Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
June 15-22
Kankakee Valley REMC wants to send you on a weeklong, all-inclusive trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C. Monuments, museums, memorials, legislators, friends, and history await you. This experience is available to students who will be a senior in the fall of 2025. Priority will be given to students of parents who receive electricity from Kankakee Valley REMC.

Cooperative Calendar of Student Art
Since 1998, Indiana Connection and participating Indiana electric cooperatives have held an annual art contest for Indiana students in grades kindergarten through 12. The winning works of art from each grade are then used to illustrate the Cooperative Calendar of Student Art that participating REMCs/RECs have distributed. Artwork for the 2026 calendar is being accepted now.

Youth Power and Hope Awards
The Youth Power and Hope Awards program honors Indiana students in fifth through eighth grades who are leaders in their communities. Potential winners could include church volunteers, active 4-H members, or those who support local hospitals or community organizations. Up to five qualified candidates will be selected as winners and featured in the Indiana Connection magazine.
