Mark Batman, president and CEO for Marshall County REMC, retired after 17 years of service. Batman began his career at Marshall County REMC in 2003 as the office manager.
In 2011, he was promoted to president and CEO where he guided the cooperative through many advancements in leading edge technology including the implementation of the next generation advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system, complete GPS accurate mapping/staking system, automated outage management system, smart grid fiber loop and the creation of Marshall County Fiber — a partnership with Rochester Telephone Company (RTC) to bring high-speed broadband internet to our rural community.
There is no doubt Batman has made a longstanding impression on the cooperative. His innovative approach has made Marshall County REMC a leading-edge organization in the electric cooperative industry.
In his free time, Batman enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, visiting famous U.S. landmarks and reading a variety of literature and autobiographies of significant individuals. With retirement, he plans to drive the Natchez Trace, US Highway 101 and maybe Highway 66, visit every U.S. National Park, take a cruise to Alaska and enjoy time with his grandchildren as they grow up.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we thank Mark for his outstanding leadership and dedication to our REMC over the years,” said Robert Broeker, chairman of the board. “It’s been an honor and pleasure working with you. Enjoy your retirement.”
