Gather your sensitive financial and personal documents and bring them to BCREMC during business hours, Dec. 9-13, for free secure paper shredding. When you arrive, deposit your items in the bins located in the lobby. Speedy Shred, a local professional shredding business, will shred all of your paper on-site so that your personal information is not compromised.
Some important documents you can bring in for free paper shredding include, but are not limited to: old tax returns, pay stubs, credit card bills, bank account statements, loan statements, paid utility bills, old insurance policies, cancelled and voided checks, credit card offers and items with your signature (if the latter item includes tax returns, tax-deductible charitable donations, tuition costs, business or medical expenses, keep for seven years). Please keep bins free of boxes or sacks that you might bring your items in. No three-ring binders or metal hanging folders allowed. Staples and paperclips are allowed. Please, limit magazines, newspapers, and phone books that can be recycled.
As part of our commitment to the community, this is a free paper shredding event! Bring as many paper documents you need to be shredded (within reason). If you don’t have a shredder at home, this important service would likely cost you money at an office supply store or if you went through a paper-shredding company directly. Even if you have a shredder, this event will save you time if you have a lot documents.
