Each October, which is National Cooperative Month, employees of electric cooperatives throughout the state unite in service, engaging in projects that improve the quality of life in their local communities.

Indiana’s Electric Cooperative Community Day projects are an opportunity to demonstrate one of our Seven Cooperative Principles: Concern for Community.

This year, Boone REMC partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Boone County. Ten of our employees volunteered at Grace Fields neighborhood on Friday, Oct. 11. Grace Fields is Habitat for Humanity of Boone County’s first neighborhood. When complete, the housing development will include 24 homes.

Our volunteers worked on siding and trim on one of the first two homes in the neighborhood.

“Boone County is facing a housing crisis,” said Liz Qua, Executive Director of Boone County Habitat for Humanity. “Grace Fields is our solution to this problem, and we are so appreciative to all our partners in this project. Without volunteers like Boone REMC employees, we would not be able to build safe affordable homes for hardworking families.”

Boone REMC is proud to support organizations like Habitat for Humanity, whose mission is to improve the quality of life in our local communities.
