Let’s continue our road trip learning about the internet, technology, and ways for you to have a better experience and faster internet.
Outdated devices
Have you ever seen a Model T car driving down a four-lane highway? Probably not, and if you have, there was a line of vehicles passing it. Model Ts were fast and modern in their time, but the modern cars now go a lot faster. This is the same for all electrical devices. A good example device is a cellular phone. Compare the first cell phones or smartphones to the current options.
The speeds and capabilities are entirely different. This is the same for your internet routers. The Gigaspire routers that we are using are top-of-the-line and use the most modern technology.
The solution is to have more up-to-date or modern devices. These modern devices are faster and have more security installed to keep your data safe.
Browsing history
Have you ever been sucked down a browser search black hole? The next thing you know, you have 20 tabs open, and an hour has passed.
All those open tabs and extensive browser histories (cookies, etc.) can slow down your internet experience. Think of it like pulling a trailer. Each tab and cookie is like a rock inside the trailer. A single rock is not heavy, but it gets heavier as you get more and more of them. When the trailer was empty, you may not have been able to tell there was a trailer behind you, but soon, your vehicle starts to handle a little differently, and it cannot take off as fast as it previously could.
The best way to correct this is to close tabs and clear your browsing history regularly.
