Cooperative, community and camp came together June 8-11, when Noble REMC was fortunate to sponsor Churubusco Junior-Senior High School student Alex Dreibelbis, in photo above, at Camp Kilowatt in Brookston.
Students entering seventh grade this fall were eligible to attend. The students’ agenda combined traditional outdoor camp activities with environmental education, electrical safety practices and cooperative business education.
Dreibelbis, son of Brent and Amy, most enjoyed rifle shooting, archery and the bucket truck rides, reaching heights of 65 feet high! He appreciated the opportunity to go to camp, sponsored by his electric cooperative.
“I learned a lot about electric cooperatives and electric safety,” Dreibelbis wrote after his experience. “I also had fun meeting people from other counties. I appreciate the chance to go to Camp Kilowatt; thank you so much.”
Camp Kilowatt, formerly known as Touchstone Energy Camp, was developed by a committee of electric cooperative employees from Indiana. The camp is funded in part by Indiana’s electric cooperatives, Hoosier Energy, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, Indiana Electric Cooperatives and other industry partners.
Through both Camp Kilowatt and the Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., Noble REMC is happy to support the development of the young people in our community.
