LaGrange County REMC is proud to announce the recipients of our 2024 scholarships. We awarded three $1,000 scholarships to help students in our community further their education.

To be eligible, the recipients’ parents or guardians must be members of LaGrange County REMC. Candidates were judged based on grade point average, a short autobiography, letters of recommendation, as well as their involvement at school and in the community. The recipients were:

HOPE BORTNER is a graduate of Westview High School and will attend Ferris State University in the fall to major in biology/pre-physical therapy. She would like to pursue a pathway to medical school and obtain her doctorate degree in sports medicine. “My dream would be to work for a professional football team,” Bortner said. She is the daughter of Chad and Erica Bortner of Wolcottville.

TAYLOR JERDON is a graduate of Lakeland High School and will attend Indiana University-Indianapolis and major in medical imaging. Her career goal is to become an ultrasound tech at a mid-size hospital in the northeast corner of Indiana. “It has always been clear to me that the medical path was one worth my time and effort to pursue,” Jerdon said. She is the daughter of Jeremiah and Amber Jerdon of Wolcottville.

MASON WIRE is a graduate of Westview High School and will attend Grace College this fall to major in business and play baseball. “I plan to have a successful career in the business world, create many new and healthy relationships, and to raise a Christ-centered family,” Wire said. He is the son of Jeff and Jennifer Wire of Howe.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients and thank you to all the applicants. We have some incredible students in LaGrange County.
