Indiana legislative conference delegation in Washington

The annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, is a pivotal event for our co-op each year. CEO Scott Sears and District 2 Director Dean Moretton represented KV REMC this year.

A primary concern addressed with the congressional delegation and their staff was the EPA’s recent rule for coal and natural gas power plants, posing risks to affordable and reliable electricity. We fear it will force premature plant closures and hinder new plant permits. While we support a responsible energy policy that balances energy needs with environmental concerns, we fear this will jeopardize affordable and reliable electricity.

Legislators recognize our vital role in representing rural voters, ensuring their voices are heard in Washington. We remain committed to meaningful dialogue with elected officials to uphold our promise of delivering reliable and affordable energy.
