Papa’s Grill in Columbus ticks all those boxes — and some more, too.
Established in 2008, Papa’s is tucked away in a small strip mall on State Road 46 right off I65. Its eclectic menu features something for everyone: appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees and a menu just for the kiddos.
Menu musts include both traditional and boneless wings, slathered in a variety of sauces (Honey BBQ, Honey Garlic Teriyaki, Asian Ginger, Buffalo Hot, Buffalo Mild and Cajun Dry Rub) to satisfy every wing aficionado. Other patron picks from Papa’s are the Reuben sandwich, the Buffalo Chicken Salad and the quintessential Hoosier favorite, the tenderloin, one of the menu items prepared with seasonings from Brownstown, Indiana-based spice manufacturer, Marion-Kay Spices. The other is the hand-breaded whitefish served in a fish and chips basket or topped with an onion, tomato, pickles, and lettuce in Harry’s Fish Sandwich. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable.
Papa’s is not only a good place to stop for a meal en route to a Southern Indiana getaway; with four 50-inch HD plasma TVs and 11 beers on tap — along with those afore-mentioned wings — it’s the perfect spot to watch a game.
Meanwhile, those desiring sandwich, salad and soup options and convenient on-the-go deli box lunches can try out Papa’s Deli, located at Third and Chestnut streets in Columbus. You’ll find some of Papa’s Grill’s favorites there, along with a wide array of specialty items including subs, unique vegetarian offerings, and various takes on chef’s salad.
