Indiana Youth Tour to D.C.

BCREMC Youth Tour representatives were Emily Law, far left, and Sara Law, far right. They were joined on the trip by BCREMC employee and chaperone Coley Smith.

Emily and Sara Law represented Bartholomew County REMC on the 2019 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., this June. The Indiana delegation of over 100 students representing 34 Indiana electric cooperatives joined more than 1,800 other students from 46 other states on the Youth Tour.

BCREMC is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for our local youth. Our youth are our future, and we can give them the tools to succeed.

Students visited the Flight 93 and Pentagon 9/11 memorials, Gettysburg National Military Park, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian museums, the National Mall memorials, the National Museum of the Marine Corps and more.

Delegates also spent a day on Capitol Hill where they met with members of Indiana’s congressional delegation.

Touchstone Energy Camp

BCREMC sponsored Hannah Dean of Elizabethtown to Touchstone Energy Camp.

Bartholomew County REMC sent Hannah Dean, Elizabethtown, to this year’s Touchstone Energy Camp at YMCA Camp Tecumseh in Brookston in June. The campers forged new friendships, deepened their understanding of electric co-ops and electric safety, and had a lot of fun at Touchstone Energy Camp. Hannah is the daughter of Michelle and Andrew Dean.

The information students learn about electricity could one day save their lives or the lives of others. Activities are structured to  teach valuable leadership skills that students could someday use to lead our community and give students a better understanding of the cooperative world so they will see BCREMC as a future employer.
