We are gearing up for our 2019 Annual Meeting, and as we make preparations, I wanted to give some insight behind this year’s annual meeting theme, “Connecting our Community.”
Over 80 years ago, the farmers of Orange and surrounding counties came together to help connect the rural areas to the surrounding community by setting poles, stringing lines and putting infrastructure in place for electric service. This group of individuals would go on to form Orange County REMC, and annually elect members of the community to sit on the board to make decisions that are both in the best interest of the community and the co-op.
Now, it seems history is repeating itself, as Orange County REMC is leading the charge to connect the community to the world by installing equipment to bring affordable, reliable, high-speed internet service to the previously underserved rural community.
I encourage you to attend the 2019 Annual Meeting, June 7, at the Paoli Jr./Sr. High School. Doors open for registration at 4:30 p.m. Members can enjoy a catered meal from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and we’ll also have a high-energy children’s program. The business meeting starts at 7 p.m., and we’ll use some of that time to update you on the exciting progress we’re making by “Connecting our Community” through high-speed internet and a few other new changes and upgrades.
We look forward to seeing you there!
