KREMC’s subsidiary, Kosciusko Connect, recently welcomed Abby Spurlin to the team as a customer service representative/dispatcher. We sat down with Spurlin to get to know more about her and her role at Connect.
What brought you to work for Kosciusko Connect?
I have a good friend that had been working at KREMC for quite some time. She always told me what a great place it was to work. When the opportunity presented itself for me to apply for the job at Kosciusko Connect, I jumped on it! I am so glad I did. This is a wonderful workplace.
Can you tell us a bit about your background and previous experience?
I worked for Whitko Community Schools for 12 years, was the technology teacher at Pierceton Elementary for six years, and was the IT field manager for the following six years. Working with students, teachers, and staff requires a lot of customer service. I have also worked in graphic design for several years. I loved being able to use my creative side.
What are you excited about when it comes to your new role?
I love working with people and giving back to my community. My job at Kosciusko Connect allows me to do both of those things. This position will enable me to help people in a way that positively impacts them. KREMC also believes in giving back to the community, so I am excited to be a part of that, too.
What have your first couple of weeks been like?
My first few weeks have been a lot of learning the ins and outs of my new position. I have such a supportive team. I am enjoying my new position at Kosciusko Connect.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests?
I have two adult children that I absolutely love to spend time with whenever I can. My son lives in Indianapolis, and my daughter lives in Pierceton. I love the summer season in Indiana and spend most of my free time at the Barbee Lake chain on the pontoon floating around the lakes. You can also find me doing trivia nights around the area.
