The Carroll White REMC (CW REMC) Junior Board helps prepare high school students for their future by giving them a fresh perspective, personal and professional networks, and new opportunities to expand their horizons. This experience also gives them an edge on their resumes for further education opportunities or job applications.
CW REMC hopes to prepare students to serve on governing boards in the future. Governing boards, such as CW REMC’s Board of Directors, oversee countless businesses and non-profit organizations in our communities. We are excited to introduce these amazing students in a series of articles.
MADYSON ANDERSON

A junior at Delphi Community High School, Madyson Anderson is the daughter of Aaron and Jana Anderson of Delphi. She has three siblings: Kiya, Easton, and Rhett.
“I was prompted to join the Junior Board because my dad is on the CW REMC Board of Directors,” she said. “The junior board provides learning opportunities about leadership, local businesses, and non-profits. I would encourage other high school students to join the Junior Board because it makes you step out of your comfort zone and learn about your community. Through this experience, I hope to gain more confidence in public speaking and help out the communities the REMC serves.”
“I would like the CW REMC members to know that in my short time on the board, I have learned how the coop operates, and I have already made new friends with other Junior Board members,” Anderson said.
Anderson plays school and travel softball and is on the Delphi Poms team. After high school, she plans to study political science and law and wants to become a family lawyer.
DELAYNA GRIEGER

DeLayna Grieger is a junior at Indiana Agriculture and Technology, a charter school in Carmel, Indiana. The school serves students in grades 7-12. The daughter of Jonathon Grieger and Relisa Funk, Grieger lives in Monticello.
“I joined the CW REMC Junior Board because I heard that board members have access to a variety of learning opportunities at various locations with tons of local businesses,” said Grieger. “I’m always eager to learn more!”
“With the different activities the junior board experiences, we are able to learn and connect with community members,” continued Grieger. “My objective is to gain a new sense of community and learn the true meaning of a great community.
Being on the junior board has already taught me many things. I’ve learned that for a successful team to work, it needs various personalities from different backgrounds. I encourage others to join the CW REMC Junior Board because it is a great way to connect with your community. You also get great opportunities for leadership training.”
In her free time, Grieger enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her family. She participates in Future Farmers of America, where she competes on the Parliamentary Procedure Team. After high school, she wants to receive a doctorate in sports marketing with minors in agribusiness and digital graphics.
CARTER STERRETT

Carter Sterrett is a junior at North White High School. He lives in Buffalo with his parents, Jared and Angie Sterrett, and his brother, Todd.
“I learned about the Junior Board at the annual CW REMC meeting,” said Sterrett. “I thought it sounded interesting. After reading more about the program online, I knew I wanted to join.”
“This experience is a great opportunity to meet new kids and learn about your community,” he said. “It’s very interesting to meet our speakers from varying walks of life and learn about their experiences. There is a plethora of information to be acquired at each meeting, and I always feel more knowledgeable after each one. Another amazing aspect is that the food at the meetings is very tasty!”
Carter participates in track and field, 4-H, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Academic Bowl. He also serves on the Alliance Bank Junior Board. Following graduation, he plans to attend college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in pre-med to become either an ER physician or an ER physician assistant.
CLAIRE GOODMAN

Claire Goodman is a Winamac Community High School senior living in Winamac.
Her parents are John and Kristine Goodman, and she has two sisters, Maddy and Alice.
“I wanted to join the junior board because I wanted to experience different communities and explore new growth opportunities,” said Goodman. “I hoped to make new friends and leave a lasting impact on this board for future members.”
“I have learned how to build relationships and make connections to improve my marketability for future endeavors,” continued Goodman. “I encourage others to join the board because you learn so much about yourself, others, and the communities where we live.”
Goodman is on the cross country and track teams at Winamac Community High School. She volunteers at her church, is on the Athletics Leadership Council, is president of the National Honor Society, and is involved in other organizations. After high school, she plans to attend Purdue University and major in kinesiology.
