Electric cooperatives have a proud history of giving back. Sometimes, that is in the form of a financial donation, and other times it is the giving of our time and labor.
This year, Kankakee Valley REMC employees volunteered as part of the United Way Day of Caring, joining area volunteers to give back to non-profits and make a difference in the community. This event is the largest volunteerism celebration in Northwest Indiana.
Time this year was spent supporting Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (Knox) and Opportunity Enterprises Lakeside. Tasks included staining decks and benches, fence repair, building habitats and walkways, clearing trails, and much more.
The tasks completed allowed these organizations to focus on what matters most: serving their clients in the community.
