A new year presents the opportunity to embrace change, rethink the status quo, and plan for the future. At Henry County REMC, we place an emphasis on consistency. It’s embedded in our mission: to provide reliable, safe, and cost-competitive electrical service to enhance the lives of our members and the communities we serve. This mission is one our team strives to execute every single day.

However, steadfast dedication to reliability and consistency does not mean resistance to progress. As technology evolves, so does our industry. With that comes new challenges to tackle, and our cooperative must learn and adapt to effectively meet those challenges head-on. Across the nation, electric cooperatives like ours face a shared reality: we cannot afford to settle for “that’s the way we’ve always done it.” That mindset would be a disservice to the members we proudly serve.

Much like the smart, resourceful men and women who first devised to bring much-needed electricity to rural areas of the country in the 1930s, cooperatives must think outside the box and remain attuned to advancements in technology that impact our industry and our mission. By embracing this forward-thinking approach, we can continue delivering on our promise of safe, reliable, and affordable service.

This year, 2025, marks a significant milestone — a quarter of the way through the 21st century. With this in mind, Henry County REMC has a robust work plan in place designed to significantly improve our service to our members and lay the groundwork for another 25 years of dependable electricity. We are excited to implement these key projects that will help us better serve you. You will read about them later in this issue of Indiana Connection.

Perhaps you have a particularly devoted interest in our cooperative and the service we provide to the community. On Feb. 6, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., we will hold our annual town hall meeting for co-op members interested in running for a seat on the Henry County REMC Board of Directors. Seats are open to nominations for Districts 2, 7, and 8. (Your district number is listed on your bill under the office hours, or you can find it in SmartHub.) The meeting will provide information on what it means to be a board member and what is expected from candidates. If this interests you, I invite you to join us to learn more about the election process and board candidacy.

I hope this year brings you prosperity and joy. Rest assured that the dedicated team at Henry County REMC will continue to uphold the mission we hold near and dear to our hearts — providing you with the exceptional electrical service you deserve.

Happy New Year!
