CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF SERVICE

Hayden Parker recently celebrated his one-year anniversary at Kosciusko REMC. He started as a Groundman Equipment Operator and has since entered the apprenticeship program through Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) and is now a First Year Apprentice. We sat down with Parker to learn more about him.

What are you most excited about when it comes to your role as First Year Apprentice?

I’m most excited about the next four years of the program and continuing to learn and develop.

During your first year, what were some of the challenging projects you worked on?

Some of the most challenging projects have been the bigger rebuilds and working through storms.

What do you find most rewarding about working for a cooperative like KREMC?

What I find most rewarding about working at a cooperative is not just working for yourself but working for your community and working for each other. At the end of the day, all the guys on the line side have each other’s backs.

As you reflect back on your first year of service here, are there any moments that stand out as especially meaningful?

The bond you make with your co-workers is especially meaningful. Everyone wants you to succeed and come home safely.

What else would you like to share with us regarding your life outside of work?

I love to spend time with my family and friends outside of work. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
