Southeastern Indiana REMC is proud to sponsor programs that inspire and empower the youth in our community. Through unique experiences and opportunities, we invest in the future by fostering leadership, creativity, and education. Youth Tour, Camp Kilowatt, and the Cooperative Calendar of Student Art are opportunities for our membership’s youth to get involved with their cooperatives.
Youth Tour
Each June, Indiana’s electric cooperatives send a group of high school students entering their senior year to embark on a life-changing educational adventure to Washington, D.C. Highlights of this seven-day trip include visits to historical monuments and museums, meetings with Indiana’s congressional delegation on Capitol Hill, opportunities to make lifelong friends, and much more. Southeastern Indiana REMC will select one upcoming high school senior to participate in this incredible experience, making it a special opportunity for a deserving student. Applications for the 2025 Indiana Youth Tour must be submitted by March 3, 2025.
Camp Kilowatt
Camp Kilowatt is a fun and unique camp experience for sixth-grade students going into seventh grade across Indiana. In 2025, the camp takes place June 4-7 at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana. Kids get the chance to learn more about energy while making new friends and enjoying fun activities and games. This dynamic three-day camp includes horseback riding, bucket truck rides, rock climbing, archery, ziplining, swimming, and much more! This exciting summer experience gives students the chance to develop leadership skills, explore energy education, and build lasting friendships. Applications for Camp Kilowatt are due by March 3, 2025, and Southeastern Indiana REMC is proud to sponsor three students to attend.
Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest
The Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest invites K-12 students to showcase their artistic talents. This statewide contest gives students the chance to create artwork for Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ annual wall calendar. A first-place artist is selected for each grade, with winners receiving a $200 prize. The winning entries will also illustrate the calendar’s cover and all 12 months in the calendar. Artwork must be submitted by Feb. 28, 2025, to be considered for the 2026 calendar.
By offering these programs, we empower our youth to grow, lead, and embrace new opportunities. We can’t wait to review the applications and learn about the incredible talents and ambitions of our young members!
