Flying high at Marcella’s

Situated in the small northwest Indiana town of Wheatfield, just a short drive off of I-65 between Chicago and Indianapolis, is Marcella’s.

For nearly 12 years, the restaurant has been serving up delicious pizzas, wings, sandwiches and more to locals and visitors a like. The eatery is best known for its buttery garlic rolls (pictured above). Top sellers also include its Chicago-style deep dish and Philly Cheesesteak pizzas.

Owners Joe and Karen Marshall opened the business (named after her mother) in November 2005 after having both worked in the restaurant business — she was a waitress, he was a cook. Keeping it a family business, son Josh also works at the restaurant.

When you walk in the doors, you’ll immediately notice the aviation-inspired motif and servers wearing uniforms reminiscent of flight attendants. “I’ve always loved airline decor,” said Karen.

Next time you’re in the area, traveling to Chicago or attending Wheatfield’s Sandhill Crane Festival, take the time to visit Marcella’s!
