Instead of my normal monthly article, for several months we will be featuring each of our seven districts. Each one is a unique and special place to call home. We’ve also asked each board member from those districts to tell us a little about where they live and why they love being there. We hope you enjoy this series!
— Jason Clemmons, CEO
District Four is in the heart of our territory, covering the I-65 corridor from Sellersburg to Memphis and stretching to Deam Lake north of State Road 60. District Four Director Joe Basham has lived in that community for more than 30 years, and he shared a few of his favorite things about the district:
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy in your district?
I enjoy camping and boating, especially at Deam Lake. Knobstone Trail is a beautiful hike that extends 60 miles into Washington County for the more adventurous.
Can you share a memorable experience while serving on the board?
I am proud of the 2022 hiring of our CEO, Jason Clemmons, which puts us in a great position to oversee our future growth. Our member-owners should know we have a great team in place, from the CEO to department managers to our employee teams.
What is your family like?
I have three grown children and four grandchildren. My wife, Bev, of 51 years, is my best friend and keeps my feet on the ground.
How has your experience been living in your township and raising your family there?
When I moved to Perry Crossing, it was still the countryside, known for the Covered Bridge Golf Club and the growth around Memphis. Carr Township has seen significant changes, but some things never change. I still enjoy working on my 66 Chevelle SS and 46 Dodge pickup.
