When life gets busy, sometimes it is good to stop and reflect on everything you have accomplished. While our broadband project hasn’t progressed as fast as we had hoped, the past several months have been full of accomplishments and milestones of which we are grateful. 

At LaGrange County REMC, we are incredibly appreciative to the members who have already signed up to receive life-changing, lightning-speed fiber internet. We know what a difference having a fast, reliable internet connection makes and the positive impact it will have on our entire community. Once this project is completed, customers will have a better experience working from home, engaging in distance learning, accessing telehealth, enjoying streaming and gaming, and much more — all thanks to the incredible power of fiber optic internet.

Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how it all works: Before we can connect your household to our fiber internet, our crews first need to build the network backbone that circles the county. Then, the work continues by building the distribution network that extends like an ever-branching stream into the various neighborhoods of our community. After our distribution network is installed in your service area, customers living in that area will be contacted by our team to discuss where the cable drop will be buried. The service drop will then be constructed to an interface box on the outside of your home. Next, we will be able to schedule an installation date for the installation of in-home equipment that will deliver your high-speed connection.

It’s a process, but we are confident you will be pleased with the results, and we are moving forward as fast as we can. Building a brand-new fiber network is not a minor accomplishment, and our crews have been hard at work making it happen. As you can see, a build of this size requires miles of cables and many hours of labor, but the passion for making our community a better place is what propels us forward.
