When foods share certain chemical compounds — like coffee and roasted peanut — they complement each other and attract more flavor from one another when paired together.

Did you know that roast beef shares chemical compounds with the most other foods? Roasted beef connects with peas, peanuts, potatoes, shrimp, milk, wheat bread and many more foods.

By studying different foods’ similar chemical compounds, chefs and foodies are able to discover new tasty pairings.
