On Jan. 8, Marshall County REMC’s Jason Hughes, along with 20 other lineworkers, graduated from the Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program.

REAP is a four-year program, administered by Indiana Electric Cooperatives, that professionally trains apprentice lineworkers from across Indiana. Graduates complete 576 hours of classroom-related study and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training at their electric cooperatives. Students also complete four additional classes through Ivy Tech Community College. Upon completion of the program, graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and a journeyman lineman certificate.

“Lineworkers are the backbone of our operations and their dedication to the members of Marshall County REMC is outstanding,” said Dave Lewallen, CEO of Marshall County REMC. “We are proud to have Hughes as part of our line crew.”

Hughes has been an employee at Marshall County REMC for six years.
