Similar to the medical field, businesses also have to abide by privacy laws related to their customers/members. Harrison REMC is no different. Frequently member service representatives (MSRs) speak with family/friends of members who would like to get information or make payment on an account that is not in their name. Under these privacy laws, MSRs cannot give any information on the account, including amount owed, due date, or last payment made.
If members would like the REMC to speak with someone who is not listed on the account, you must call the office to have the information added to your account.
Also, if two people, such as spouses, roommates or business partners, share the responsibility for the bill then both names need to be on the account. In addition to paying the bill, the second person also becomes the contact for emergencies and can make changes to the account including disconnecting service. To add a co-member to your account please contact the office.
