We have some exciting news to announce: The start of LaGrange County REMC Broadband, a high-speed fiber-optic internet project for our members! 

With key financial support from the LaGrange County Commissioners and Council in the form of a $5 million grant from the Major Moves fund last November, we were able to secure the additional financing needed to build a gigabit-speed broadband network. We will invest about $25 million in our community to improve the region’s technology infrastructure. Your cooperative is excited to be the catalyst that brings high-speed broadband service to LaGrange County that improves our member’s lives with what has now become an essential amenity for modern life. 

The engineering and design are complete and materials procured. Construction of the network begins later this month. LaGrange County residents will begin experiencing the fastest, most reliable internet technology available anywhere with connections to homes and businesses commencing late this year. 

A fiber-optic connection gets its name from the small glass fibers used to transmit information as pulses of light. These fibers are capable of carrying large amounts of data much faster than any other internet technology.
