July board meeting notes

To keep you informed of your cooperative’s operations and activities, the following are highlights of the July 31 board meeting.

1. All directors were present. Also present were CEO Steve Seibert and Administrative Assistant Lisa Hinton.

2. The June 26, 2024, board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.

3. The vouchers were reviewed and approved.

4. The director’s reports were reviewed and approved.

5. Seibert provided an update on the FTTH/broadband project with PSC. Fiber service to Southern Indiana Power members in Warrick County was approved.

6. The CEO report was given, with Seibert reporting the following items:

a. Presented a UUS update

b. Informed the board of a CenterPoint territory acquisition

    c. Reviewed the 85-year member appreciation day even

    d. Provided an update on the GIS project

    e. Reported the following meeting dates: IEC Region 6 meeting Aug. 6, IEC Lineman Rodeo Aug. 22-23, Electrify Indiana Conference Aug. 25-26, NRECA Regional Meeting Sept. 4-6, and IEC DC Fly-In Sept. 25

    7. Robert White, safety and risk management instructor with IEC, conducted an unannounced crew observation on July 19 and offered feedback for continuous safety improvement. Seibert advised that there was one lost-time accident and one public liability claim to report.

    8. CEO and Board evaluation forms were distributed.

    9. A Wage & Salary Committee Meeting was scheduled for Aug. 26.

    10. Director Gary Waninger reported on the Hoosier Energy board meeting held on July 8.

    11. Director Randy Kleaving reported on the IEC board meeting held on June 28.

    12. Directors reported on the IEC Director Retreat held July 26-27.

    13. Directors reviewed section 2, Promoting and Nurturing Good Governance, of the NRECA Good Governance Task Force Report.

    14. Information was provided on upcoming director training options.

    15. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 28.
