Randy Kleaving, district 5 director, was elected to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association board on Feb. 20. He will fill the unexpired term of former Decatur County REMC Director Roy Friedersdorf. He was seated at the April NRECA board meeting and will serve in this capacity through the 2022 NRECA annual meeting.
Kleaving is currently a member of Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ executive committee and serves as secretary-treasurer of the Indiana Electric Cooperatives board.
Indiana Electric Cooperatives, located in Indianapolis, represents 38 electric distribution cooperatives that serve 1.3 million Hoosiers in 89 of the state’s 92 counties.
NRECA, located in Arlington, Virginia, represents more than 900 consumer-owned not-for-profit electric cooperatives, public power districts and public utility districts in the United States.
Kleaving and his wife, Dawn, live in Anderson township in Perry County and are the parents of two sons, Blake and Adam. Kleaving is self-employed and owns his farming operation, raising grain and beef cattle. He also serves as a Perry County commissioner.
Kleaving and his family are members of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
