To keep you informed of your cooperative’s operations and activities, the following are highlights of the March 27 board meeting.
1. All directors were present. Also present were CEO Steve Seibert, Administrative Assistant Lisa Hinton, and Manager of Finance and Accounting Amy Ramsey. Earl Ridlen of the auditing firm LWG was also present via Webex.
2. The Feb. 28, 2024, board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.
3. The membership certificates were reviewed.
4. The vouchers were reviewed and approved.
5. The preliminary February director’s reports were reviewed.
6. Ridlen of LWG reviewed the 2023 Audit Report in detail.
7. Seibert provided an update on the FTTH/broadband project with PSC.
8. A marketing committee meeting has been scheduled for April 12.
9. The September board meeting has been rescheduled for Sept. 26.
10. The CEO report was presented with Seibert reporting the following items:
- a. Seibert reported on the Hoosier Energy Perry County reliability plan.
- b. Seibert informed the board of 2023 Hoosier Energy capital credit allocations.
- c. Seibert reported there were three Camp Kilowatt applicants and no Youth Tour applicants this year.
- d. Seibert reported that the EAP moratorium ended on March 15.
- e. Seibert reported that April 8 is National Lineman Appreciation Day, and April 24 is National Administrative Professionals Day.
- f. Seibert informed the board of a bill revamp project kickoff.
- g. Seibert reported that the cooperative will transition to ASP (cloud-based servers) in April.
- h. Seibert informed the board an IVUE software upgrade is scheduled for May.
- i. Seibert reported the following meeting dates: Hoosier Energy Annual Meeting — April 3, NRECA Directors Conference — April 7–9, SIP Annual Meeting — April 16, NRECA Legislative Conference — April 21–24, CFC Forum — June 17–19, ACES Member Conference June 17–19, and the IEC Directors Retreat July 26–27.
11. Robert White, safety and risk management instructor at IEC, conducted the annual tool, equipment, and truck inspection on March 6. Adam Lock, safety and risk management instructor with IEC, conducted bucket truck rescue training for a new employee on March 12. Jon Elkins, vice president of Safety Training and Compliance with IEC, conducted forklift training and certification for new employees on March 21. Seibert advised that there were no lost-time accidents and no public liability claims to report.
12. The board approved the retirement of 1999 capital credit allocations in 2024. The capital credit distribution will be in November.
13. Director Gary Waninger reported on an Operation Round Up trustees meeting held on March 13. Six grant applications totaling $18,785 and five scholarships totaling $2,500 were approved for funding.
14. Director Waninger reported on a Hoosier Energy board meeting held on March 25.
15. Chairman Jeff Vogel reported on the 2024 NRECA PowerXchange held March 4–6.
16. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting will be held on Thursday, April 25.
