Some people are driven by statistics. Some are driven by accomplishments. Success, education, breaking barriers, making history; each are laudable motivators, but they’re not what drives me. So, what makes me tick? People.

I love people. The most important lessons I’ve learned have come from people, not books; from relationships, not seminars; from friendships, not experts. I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by some amazing people who taught me that leading comes by serving, and that life is best lived not for self but for others.

So, on April 15 when we gather at Charlestown High School for our Annual Meeting, I mean our 2023 JAMBOREE, I have one primary goal: to talk to as many of our members as possible! From 2-3:30 p.m., I will have a special “Meet the CEO” area near the voting gym, and I would be honored if you would take a minute to sit down and chat. I want to hear about what’s happening in the community, about how REMC can better meet your needs, or even just about where to find the best fried chicken in Southern Indiana. And if you’ve got a moment, I’d be glad to tell you about the great staff we have at REMC, the exciting opportunities on our horizon and about my incredibly cute grandkids!

As CEO, I am committed to leading this cooperative to be the best that we can be, which requires a delicate balance of knowledge, intuition, courage and humility. But if I’ve learned anything after 19 years in this industry, it’s that I can’t go wrong when I take the time to stop
and listen.
