Providing top-notch service to the members of Clark County REMC takes a lot of work. We have more than 1,800 miles of power lines throughout the five counties we serve, supported by 27,000 poles, and fed electricity by 15 substations. But as important as the equipment and structures are, our most valuable assets are our employees. So I’d like to share some employee news with you this month.
In June, Thera Desmond was hired as our Administrative Assistant. She has been with the REMC for 13 years as our Human Resources And Benefits Coordinator, so we know she’ll continue doing a great job in her new role.
We also brought in a new employee to fill the HR role. Jennifer Fleece comes to Clark County REMC from Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center where she was the Human Resources Manager for 17 years.
Continuing the hiring announcements, we hired Kevin Kastensmidt as our new Manager of Information Technology. Kevin comes to us from Louisville Water Company where he worked as the Director of Information Technology for 26 years. Take a look at page 8 for more information about both Kevin and Jennifer.
Summer is also a great opportunity to bring in some fresh talent. For the second year, we’ve offered several paid internships. In our engineering department, we welcomed Brian Gullion and Jared Massengale from Purdue Polytechnic and Tyler Blandford from Valparaiso University. We also welcomed Madeline Baird from Indiana University Southeast (IUS), who filled our media and design internship. Martin Bacala, also from IUS, was brought on for an IT internship and Grant Kalkbrenner, who will start as a freshman at Purdue Polytechnic of New Albany this fall, is working as our warehouse intern. We love giving young, motivated students the chance to develop their professional skills, and we also love learning from their unique and diverse perspectives.
Seeing new faces at our co-op is always exciting. If you’re in the area of our office this month, stop by and say “Hi!”
