Since early 2000, Kankakee Valley REMC has utilized an advanced metering system. Since then, a new generation of meters has been developed that offers enhanced services. Last year, your cooperative invested in this new generation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters.  

In conjunction with our recent SmartHub implementation, this new AMI meter system will allow you greater access to information regarding your energy use. Having this information will also allow for the development of future programs and pricing options. The real-time data offered by the system will provide for operational efficiencies that will benefit the membership.  

The deployment of this system began last month and will continue into 2023. Kankakee Valley REMC employees will be performing the work. When an employee visits your home, they will be removing your existing meter and replacing it with the new equipment.  This process may cause your electric service to blink.
