The Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative board of trustees consists of nine co-op members who each represent one district within the territory served by PPEC. The trustees are responsible for establishing, reviewing, and revising corporate policies to ensure that service to the PPEC membership is foremost in mind, while maintaining a stable, yet competitive, position in the industry by setting rate structures.
Each trustee serves a three-year term and either must seek re-election after the term or retire. Elections are held annually by the membership prior to the annual meeting in March. The upcoming election will be for candidates in Districts 2, 4, and 5.
District 2 includes members who reside in Van Wert County, Ohio. This position is held by William Dowler, who is seeking re-election.
District 4 includes Emerald, Jackson, Blue Creek, and Paulding townships in Paulding County, Ohio, as well as Defiance County’s Delaware Township. This position is represented by Jay Dangler, who is seeking re-election.
District 5 includes members who reside in Indiana’s Maumee, Adams, Jefferson, and Jackson townships. This position is held by Steven McMichael, who is seeking re-election.
Want to run for the board?
The election process begins with a petition form, available starting Nov. 16. Any PPEC member who resides in Districts 2, 4, or 5 may obtain the required trustee petition from the cooperative office or online at www.PPEC.coop. Candidates must receive at least 20 signatures from PPEC members within the district in which the candidate resides.
All completed petition forms must be received at the PPEC office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 16. Each one will be verified, and only those candidates who have met all requirements will be on the ballot.
The official ballots will be mailed to members in Districts 2, 4, and 5 in February. The winners of the election will be announced at the annual meeting on March 16, 2019, at PPEC’s headquarters.
