In January, the Operation Round Up board awarded four local organizations with grants: Cultivate Food Rescue, Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michigan, the Marshall-Starke Development Center, and Operation: Quiet Comfort.
Cultivate Food Rescue received funding to rescue nutritious foods and distribute them to those in need in our community. By providing a food rescue service, Cultivate Food Rescue is dedicated to ending the cycle of hunger in the local communities of northern Indiana.
Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michigan received funding to support numerous programs and activities for girls to participate and build fundamental skills. The Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michigan mission is to build girls’ courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
The Marshall-Stark Development Center received funds to assist with the cost of transportation to and from work for the individuals they serve for evening or weekend trips to and from their paid job in the community. The Marshall-Starke Development Center provides day programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Operation: Quiet Comfort received funding to assist with the postage cost of sending care packages to our troops. The mission of Operation: Quiet Comfort is to honor and comfort U.S. Armed Forces men and women who have been injured while serving in harm’s way and to provide much-needed emotional and moral support.
