A Thorntown artist and small business owner is offering some unique ways to display blossoms this year with her pottery. The Potting Shed at Sugar Creek is the unique vision of Rachel Hill.
“I wanted to create something tangible, something people could feel and touch and hopefully make a positive difference in the world,” Hill said. “Personally, I was tired of buying things made abroad and wanted to be a part of providing something to my local community while nurturing my creativity.”
No two pieces are alike and the pieces are made of concrete. Everything from garden gnomes to geode planters can be found on the website.
“I love concrete for its adaptability and its intrinsic decorative flexibility since it can be made in nearly any shape and finished in nearly any color,” Hill said. “The gray tones of concrete provide a neutral base which is very versatile and alluring for different home interior styles.”
