If you’ve attended any of Tipmont’s Streaming 101 seminars, you’ve gotten to see the Roku streaming device in action. (Haven’t attended yet? Visit tipmont.com/101 to register.)
There are many devices you can use to stream films, TV series and live programming online, but we have found the Roku line to be the most user-friendly. If you’ve switched to Roku, or are thinking about it, here are some additional ways to get more out of your Roku investment.
PUMP UP (OR DOWN) THE VOLUME
It’s never fun to be jolted from your seat by a suddenly loud commercial. Most Roku models offer sound leveling to maintain consistent volume levels, or increase soft sounds or decrease loud sounds.
Press the star button on your remote and navigate to Sound Settings → Volume Mode.
ORGANIZE YOUR CHANNELS
Want to have your favorite streaming services at the top of your Roku menu for easy access? You can move the tiles around.
Select any tile on your home screen, press the star button on your remote, and then choose the Move app or Move app to top option.
If you’re not moving an app directly to the top, use the remote’s directional arrows to move it where you’d like.
LISTEN THROUGH HEADPHONES
Want to watch without disturbing anyone else in the house? If you have wireless Bluetooth headphones and a Roku model that supports Bluetooth, you can listen to audio privately.
Go to Settings from the main Roku menu, then choose Remotes & devices → Wireless headphones to pair your headphones.
