In the third quarter of this fiscal year, Operation Round Up trustees granted $3,342.50 to two local non-profit entities, Tri-County Intermediate Sixth Grade and Twin Lakes Band Boosters.

“While this was a quiet quarter as far as grant requests, we are ready to see an increase in applicants as the school year begins,” said Casey Crabb, Carroll White REMC communications and public relations manager. “CW REMC topped the $1 million donation mark in donations earlier this year. That was a huge milestone. We encourage area non-profits in our service territory to visit our website to apply for future Operation Round Up grants. We want to move toward the next $1 million milestone!”

Tri-County Intermediate Sixth Grade received $2,842.50 to assist in sending students to the “Foundations for Success,” a 36-hour leadership training program at Camp Tecumseh.

“We live in a world where teachers are preparing students for an unknown future,” grant writer Kirby Carney said. “At Camp Tecumseh, approximately 65 students will be engaged in six learning activities to develop problem-solving and leadership skills.”

Students will learn more about trust, self-confidence, and teamwork through creative stimulator activities.

Twin Lakes Band Boosters received a $500 grant to assist in cleaning band uniforms. This is an annual project as the Spirit of Twin Lakes Marching Band season begins.

“Last season, the Spirit of Twin Lakes Marching Band made quite the name for itself,” wrote grand writer Lindsay Baer. “Under new leadership, the band qualified for state finals for the first time in several years. A clean, uniformed band will draw the attention of the other top performers throughout the state and strengthen the level of competitiveness for our band.”
