Kankakee Valley REMC employees recently celebrated its achievement for no lost time accidents in 2019. To receive this honor, the cooperative completed a year of no work-related accidents resulting in an employee missing a full eight-hour day. This award was provided to the cooperative through Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange, an insurance provider for Kankakee Valley REMC. This is the sixth time in 10 years that the cooperative has received this designation.
Working around electricity can be dangerous. For this reason, all Kankakee Valley REMC employees follow safety protocols based on standard national safety practices for the electrical safety industry. Safety training is held monthly for all employees to attend. In addition, our employees participate in the Commitment to Zero Contact initiative sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. This initiative provides resources to assist in the elimination of serious injuries due to electrical contact and enhances the cooperatives safety program.
“Receiving this recognition speaks to the outstanding efforts and commitment of our employees to working safely on the job. It is through their efforts that we can maintain a culture of safety and make sure that at the end of the day each employee returns home to their family,” stated Scott Sears, CEO for Kankakee Valley REMC.
At the core of our organization is the mission of providing safe, affordable, and reliable electricity to our member-consumers. Kankakee Valley REMC accomplishes each of these objectives through the dedication of our employees.
